Start with these principles
- Build comfortable aerobic volume first
- Use harder intervals purposefully
- Choose a mode your body tolerates
Use the talk test
During an easy or moderate session, you should usually be able to speak in phrases or short sentences. Save breathless work for planned intervals after you have a consistent base.
Increase time gradually
Add a few minutes to one or two sessions instead of making every workout longer at once. A week that feels repeatable is more valuable than one heroic day followed by several days off.
Pair cardio with strength
Aerobic exercise and resistance training support different aspects of fitness. Place hard sessions apart when possible and keep easy days easy enough to recover.
Safety and individual needs
Adapt exercise to symptoms, health history, and current capacity. Stop for chest pain, faintness, or unusual shortness of breath. Seek qualified help when pain, recent injury, surgery, pregnancy, or a medical condition changes what is appropriate.
